ABSTRACT: The purpose of this article is to highlight the indications and contraindications for Jugular catheter use in small animal medicine. It wilt focus on the veterinary nurse’s role during patient preparation as well as patient care before, during and after jugular catheter placement.

Jugular catheters are becoming more widely used in small animal medicine and veterinary nurses play an important role in the preparation of equipment, patient and catheter care.
