In the previous article, we discussed the nursing process and a framework that could be applied to nursing the critical patient. When a critical-care patient is presented it can be difficult to ensure that all of the patient’s individual requirements are addressed, and frameworks are a great way of ensuring that things are not missed. This article will demonstrate how such a framework should work, using a case as an example.

Eleanor graduated in 2008 from the University of Bristol with an honours degree in Veterinary Nursing and Practice Administration. She worked in a mixed practice in the Midlands for two years before returning to the University of Bristol as Senior ICU nurse for four years. She gained the VTS(ECC) qualification in 2012.
