In 2024, BVNA is celebrating 20 years of campaigning during the month of May, to raise awareness of veterinary nursing.

We know that it’s currently a challenging time for the veterinary profession, and when teams are busy and stretched, time and capacity can be very limited. But – we still fundamentally believe that veterinary nurses everywhere deserve to be championed.

That’s why this year, we’re inviting you to get involved – with complete flexibility over how. Your #VNAM2024, your way!

To enter our competition, simply show us any activities you are carrying out this May to educate the general public about #WhatVNsDo – and vitally, why the ‘veterinary nurse’ title needs to be protected in law.

Download our social media assets below;

We’ll be selecting two winners and two runners-up â€“ each winning either a £100 or £50 Love2Shop voucher!

You can enter:

  • As an individual, as a nursing team, or as a whole practice/workplace team
  • Whether you work in or out of clinical practice
  • Whether you work in small animal, equine, farm, exotic, first opinion, referral, education or in industry (or any combination!)

To highlight the skilled work that veterinary nurses do every day, here’s some possible ideas:

  • Run an open day or evening in your workplace
  • Deliver an engaging presentation to clients
  • Plan a social media and communications campaign
  • Create an impactful display board or waiting room TV campaign for your practice waiting room
  • Deliver an informational webinar or podcast
  • Promote existing nursing services, or launch a new one – e.g. nurse consults
  • Create short informational/instructional videos for providing care to pets – e.g. giving medications, body condition scoring, clipping claws at home
  • Contact your local press – whether newspaper, TV or radio
  • Plan a community activity, such as a dog walk

Have an idea that isn’t listed here? If you think it will engage and educate the public – don’t be afraid to get creative and go for it!

To enter, we need to see:

  1. Any evidence you can provide of the activities you’ve delivered – whether photos, links to examples of materials, recordings, campaign schedules.
  2. BVNA is acknowledged within your activities, making use of this year’s VNAM logos and artwork where possible.
  3. How you have addressed raising awareness of why the VN title should be protected.
  4. Where materials are shared on social media, tag BVNA and use the VNAM hashtags: #VNAM2024 | #WhatVNsDo | #20YearsOfVNAM

Throughout April, we’ll be sharing resources via the BVNA website and on social media, to help you with planning your own VNAM campaign. We’ll also share your work during May, to inspire others to get involved!

  • Send us your submission via bvna@bvna.co.uk. Larger files can be sent via WeTransfer.
  • Entries must be received by 23:59 on Friday 31st May 2024.

Good luck – and we can’t wait to see what you have planned!
