ABSTRACT: RVNs, and those planning to join their esteemed ranks, have a variety of career options. Here, to help those making career choices, we present some of the benefits of working for charity practice. This paper is by no means a robust scientific study, but a way of collating and presenting the views of those who are working on the front line and experiencing the job first-hand.

James is Chief Veterinary Officer of the RSPCA, which has around 40 veterinary clinics and works with most practices in England and Wales. He is also Honorary Lecturer at the University of Bristol and is the author of Animal Welfare in Veterinary Practice (2013; UFAW/Wiley Blackwell).
