ABSTRACT: Box Hill Institute is Victorias premier large vocational education and training (VET) provider. The Centre for Biotechnology & Animal Sciences delivers nationally recognised training in companion animal services, animal technology, captive animals, equine studies and veterinary nursing.

Our students have the opportunity to participate in a range of work placements, including international exchange programmes and study tours. All of our veterinary nursing students are in paid employment in veterinary practice as veterinary nurses for a minimum of 15 hours per week, ongoing for the duration of their studies.

Sam McCurdy BVSc (Hons) is an Australian veterinary surgeon who graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1993. After 15 years in general practice – in both the UK and Australia – Sam started teaching and is now head of animal sciences and veterinary nursing at Box Hill Institute.
