Help Us Honour the Unsung Heroes of Veterinary Care

Every day, veterinary nurses show up with compassion, resilience, and quiet strength. They are the steady hands behind the scenes. The calming voices in moments of fear. The people who hold patients gently, support grieving owners, and carry emotional weight long after the doors close. So often, their work goes unnoticed. So often, their care is unspoken and unrecognised. Yet veterinary nurses are the heartbeat of veterinary practice. This Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month, we want to change that.

This is a moment of recognition. Complete a short nomination form here.

We are inviting clients and colleagues to help us shine a light on the Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs) and Student Veterinary Nurses (SVNs) who give so much of themselves — often without thanks, applause, or acknowledgement.

Do you know a veterinary nurse who made a lasting difference? Perhaps they:

  • Sat with you when your animal was unwell or at the end of their life
  • Offered kindness, patience, or reassurance when emotions ran high
  • Treated your pet with dignity, gentleness, and genuine love
  • Supported you in ways you’ll never forget, even if you never had the words at the time

Who can be nominated?

  • Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs)
  • Student Veterinary Nurses (SVNs)
  • Where care has been delivered as a team, nominations may also recognise the wider veterinary team — while keeping veterinary nurses at the heart of the story.

Who can nominate?

  • Clients, whose lives and animals have been touched by compassionate nursing care
  • Colleagues, who witness daily the emotional labour, professionalism, and dedication that often goes unseen

Why your words matter

For many veterinary nurses, kindness is part of the job — but recognition rarely is. Your nomination:

  • Helps acknowledge the unseen and emotional work veterinary nurses carry
  • Reminds them that their compassion does not go unnoticed
  • Gives voice to the gratitude that is so often felt, but not spoken

Sometimes, a single “thank you” can mean more than we realise. Thank you for helping us honour the veterinary nurses who care quietly, selflessly, and wholeheartedly — every single day.
