If you are just wanting to record an occasional webinar or podcast to go onto your practice social media, then remember you don’t need to have the all singing and dancing equipment.

A basic podcast can be recorded over Zoom, and a pre-recorded webinar can be recorded using power point, so all you need is a laptop or computer with a microphone and camera. Think about the topic you are wanting to discuss and if you are having other people join you on the recording.

If you are wanting to present a webinar, set up your PowerPoint slides so it makes sense and follows the topic. Remember to introduce yourself and the others who will be talking, and also the topic you are discussing. Try to have an outline of a script if you are doing a podcast, or at least a few set questions to discuss with the people you are doing the podcast with. This will keep conversation flowing rather than having any awkward pauses or silences.

Try to ensure that you are keeping to a set time, for example 30 minutes to an hour long. Think about how long would you listen to a podcast or a webinar for.

And finally, remember to close the podcast or webinar off so people listening know that you have finished – for example “thank you so much for listening and we hope you have enjoyed it”.
