Last month, we announced the results from this year’s BVNA Council application and selection process.
We are delighted to introduce you to the four RVNs and one SVN who will join BVNA Council, following their ratification at the AGM at BVNA Congress on Saturday 11th October 2025. We are looking forward to bringing their fresh perspectives to our Council team.

Emily Bacon RVN

I’m an RVN with a passion for inpatient care and all things medicine. I particularly enjoy getting geeky with the microscope and exploring diagnostic imaging – you’ll often find me absorbed in the details of a fine needle aspirate or in the imaging suite with the ultrasound machine!
My career has taken a rewarding path into nurse development, where I’m driven to support and inspire the next generation of veterinary nurses. I’m proud to be involved at such a pivotal time in our profession, with exciting opportunities to shape the future of nursing.
When I’m not in practice, I love being outdoors and have recently discovered a love for carp fishing – there’s nothing better than some fresh air and peaceful water to reset and recharge.
Macauly Gatenby RVN

Hi, my name is Macauly and I am a Registered Veterinary Nurse. I started my journey as a Veterinary Care Assistant in 2019 before graduating as an RVN in 2022. I have previously been fortunate enough to sit on BVNA council as a student council member before finishing my term in 2023.
I have many passions whilst in practice, including but not limited to feline nursing and behaviour. I have recently completed my Girling and Fraser APVN in small mammals, whilst also currently undergoing my Certificate in Feline Nursing through International Cat Care which I will finish in Spring 2026. My passions through BVNA are vast and I want to be the voice for all nurses, whether that be through mental health awareness, neurodiversity, supporting students and trying to form some sort of support during maternity leave. I am looking forward to jumping into BVNA and push and support so many areas!
Outside of BVNA and nursing I love to spend time with my handrear cat Nugget and my rescue pup Twiglet. I also love to spend time with friends going to drag shows!
I’m so excited to be able to finally have a full council seat and cannot wait to represent the profession.
Dan Lidgbird RVN

I am a Registered Veterinary Nurse with a Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing, obtained in 2022, and I work in a mixed practice with a dedicated focus on farm animals. Growing up surrounded by animals inspired my passion for the veterinary profession, and after starting my career in a small animal I transitioned into farm practice, where I discovered my true passion. I am also a Suitably Qualified Person (SQP) for farm animals, which allows me to provide advice and prescribe certain veterinary medicines to support animal health.
I have a strong interest in improving farm animal welfare and work closely with my veterinary colleagues to deliver a collaborative approach to herd and flock health. Much like small animal veterinary nurses, my role is hands-on and varied — amongst other things, I assist with farm animal surgeries, monitor anaesthetics, perform post-operative checks, and support farmers with preventative health strategies that improve productivity, welfare, and sustainability. I am passionate about promoting and growing opportunities for registered veterinary nurses in farm practice, showcasing the valuable role they can play within the agricultural industry.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time in the countryside, walking and socialising with friends, or you may also find me in a milking parlour!
Krishna Mistry RVN

Hello, I’m Krishna, a Registered Veterinary Nurse with a passion for inpatient care, quality improvement, and education. I’ve worked across a variety of clinical settings and currently serve as Lead Medical Nurse at Birstall Vets for Pets, where I champion high standards of nursing care and team development.
I recently completed a teaching role at Derby College and have studied postgraduate certificates at the Royal Veterinary College. I’ve presented on clinical audit, communication, and nursing leadership, and I’m passionate about promoting inclusivity, brachycephalic welfare, and supporting wellbeing and work-life balance in our profession.
Outside of work, I enjoy reading, writing, ceramics, and running a l book club with my colleagues. I live with my rescue French Bulldog, Ivy, and spend far too much time nurturing my sourdough starter, appropriately named Doughy Parton.
I’m really looking forward to being part of the BVNA community and connecting with fellow veterinary nurses.
SVN seat
Alice Langstone SVN

I am a third-year Veterinary nursing student, currently working through finishing my college theory work and will shortly be working towards sitting my OSCEs in the new year.
I have been working at Glenthorne Vets for 3 years; I began my career as a VCA for a year and was offered the opportunity to start my journey to become an RVN. It has been a journey that has pushed me out of my comfort zone and has given me the confidence to achieve things I never thought possible.
I am really looking forward to working with the other council members and learning from them and their experiences.
Open to all BVNA members, the 2025 AGM will be held at BVNA Congress, Telford International Centre, on Saturday 11th October 15:15 – 16:15.
