ABSTRACT: Having been in practice for nearly eight years, the author has witnessed the transition from manual to digital radiography facilities in a first-opinion practice and so has been able to appreciate it’s advantages and disadvantages at first-hand. This article will explore digital and manual radiography techniques from a clinical RVN’s perspective.

There are many factors that need to be taken into consideration when processing radiographs that have been produced onto film. Environmental conditions are a significant factor when achieving a diagnostic image, followed by correct positioning and correct exposure settings.
