How are you getting involved in promoting Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month 2017?
This month sees the annual celebration of our Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month (VNAM) 2017 campaign which runs throughout May each year.
Practices and colleges throughout the UK are invited to join us in highlighting the importance of the role of the veterinary nurse within practice and the provision of responsible pet care to the general public. We are all proud to be Registered Veterinary Nurses and we should use Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month to spread the word and shout about it!
Think about everything you could do to show your clients and local community how important and amazing Registered Veterinary Nurses are, how much we know in order to provide the best welfare for their pets both inside and outside of the veterinary practice. Whether its designing your practice waiting room notice boards to show off the wide range of skills we possess or organising a careers event / open day to inspire the potential veterinary nurses of the future, you can even set up a 'pet chat' in your local park or community centre. Whatever you choose to show off your skills, just do it! Show your inner Superhero this May!
We have witnessed an overwhelming increase over the past few years of practices and colleges signing up online for a free display pack to promote our amazing profession, so we hope 2017 will prove to be our best yet!
There have been many different events held nationally over the years, including sponsored dog walks, pet health checks in the park, a charity ball and even sky-diving! We can't wait to see what fantastic ideas you have come up with for this year! Don't forget it doesn't matter how big or small your event is, it's the taking part that counts!
BVNA will be attending the National Pet Show in London again this year, at Excel on 6 & 7 May (on stand A58 within the Animal Zone) – so if you are there please pop by and say hello! We will be offering 10% off all membership applications and renewals.

You can also take part in our 2017 competition which consists of the following 3 categories:
• Category A | Best Display 'Showing the role of the Veterinary Nurse1 (can be practice waiting room or college notice board)
• Category B | Best Event / Social Media Event 'Promoting the awareness and role of the RVN to the general public1
• Category C | Best Pet Selfie / Social Media Post – quoting #whatvnsdo
Amazon vouchers will be awarded to the winner and runner-up for each of the above categories.
