On Saturday 14th May, BVNA’s Junior Vice President, Charlotte Pace, was invited to join the British Association of Dental Nurses (BADN) for their anniversary afternoon tea. The afternoon tea was to celebrate its 80 +2 years of being the representative body of dental nurses. This was the first occasion after Covid that they could celebrate the milestone of 80 years in person.

BVNA have recently supported and adopted BADN’s menopause policy, which is now available in our chronic illness toolkit: http://bvna.org.uk/project/chronic-illness-and-conditions-among-veterinary-nurses/

BVNA are also pleased to partner with another association outside the veterinary profession, which will help grow a better understanding of One Health, where human and veterinary professionals work together for the greater good. BADN have had a long battle to protect the title of Dental Nurse, and it is hoped that we can learn from their hard-fought experiences in order to protect the veterinary nurse title.

It was a lovely afternoon with fantastic cake, and it was great talking to passionate nurses about the similarities and challenges we face as caring professions. Although, it was noted that as veterinary nurses, we are encouraged to stroke our patients, which would not go down quite so well in human medicine! Watch this space for a BVNA afternoon tea to celebrate 50 years of the BVNA in 2023….
