Lecture Synopsis:

In this webinar, we will explore the species-specific and individual needs of cats, and how VNs can recognise and address these to help feline patients cope within the clinic environment. We will examine why certain stressors can cause distress in cats and how this may influence their emotional state and behaviour during clinic visits. Through a series of case studies, the webinar will focus on practical steps the veterinary team can take to prevent distress and to troubleshoot when challenges arise, ensuring that patient welfare and staff safety remain central to all decision-making and clinical protocols.

Learning Points:

  • Summarise how the ancestry, lifestyle and temperament of the domestic cat influence their needs and behaviour
  • Recognise how the veterinary environment and our interactions can impact the emotions and behaviour of cats in our care
  • Explain how you might adapt the clinic environment and your behaviours and protocols to improve patient experience and outcomes
