Wounds can create a challenge for the whole veterinary team, with multiple factors that can affect how a wound can heal it is important as RVNs that we understand how wounds heal and how we can mitigate factors that cause delays to this process. Wound infections can lead to serious complication for our patients and ensuring that we prevent these from occurring is vital. During this talk we will discuss bacteria and fungi and how they affect our wound healing. We will also explore management and the treatment options available, alongside prevention methods with antimicrobial stewardship in mind.
