BVNA Regional Representative Carly Kilby recently hosted a CPD event on “Physiotherapy and Rehab Tips to Help Our Elderly Patients”. Here, Carly reports on the sold-out event:

“Sleepy Sandford hosted 25 veterinary professionals on 4th May 2023 – perfect timing to celebrate VNAM! Our speaker Mathilde Granger discussed how to implement changes into our nurses’ clinics to accommodate our geriatric patients. The discussions included how to empower the veterinary nurse to take on client questionnaires, patient pain assessments and introduce the client to physiotherapy for their ageing pets.

Veterinary nurses have the ability to take geriatric referrals from their vets, introduce mobility exercises and regular assessments of quality of life. Mathilde’s passion for pain management was reflected in her discussions and her enthusiasm for geriatric care was infectious.
