Legislative Reform Consultation document.

Watch the video below for handy tips on completing the Legislative Reform Consultation document. We are asking all veterinary nurses to think about and comment on the recommendations made by the RCVS Legislative Working Party to amend the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966. This is via a consultation document which we think is a bit daunting. So we invited a panel of veterinary professionals to discuss the proposed changes live at this webinar.

This webinar was held on Thursday the 1st of April 2021 at 19:30 for those in the veterinary nursing and wider profession, in regards to changes to be made to Schedule 3. The webinar looks at the recommendations made that cover additional LWP recommendations and interim proposals not requiring primary legislation.

You can watch Part 1 and Part 2 here of this webinar series.

With only a few days to go, be sure to make your voice heard! There are increasing concerns that the current Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 is no longer fit for purpose. The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons [RCVS] – the regulatory body for vets and vet nurses, formed a Legislative Working Party [LWP] in 2018 to carryout a review of the Act. The BVNA and other organisations within the veterinary profession are part of the LWP.

As a result of their work, the LWP has proposed reforms outlined in a consultation document which open to the public to complete before 5pm on Friday, 23 April. You can access the consultation document here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LRDGYZ8.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to veterinary nurses to make a change to the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 and make a difference to the future of veterinary nursing. Make your voice heard!
