A total of 8 people attended the organised walk by Marloes Baltus, BVNA Regional Rep, on Sunday 2nd April 2023. There were two RVNs, three VCA’s and a practice manager, plus her partner. All attendees came from the same practice, which meant they car shared to reduce use of cars.
Everyone met up at the visitor centre in Beacon Fell Country Park. The sun was shining and after some quick introductions, they decided on their route and set off.
They walked approximately 4km, with plenty of breaks to let the dogs (and the humans) enjoy the surroundings. Everyone enjoyed themselves, the conversations and getting out and moving around. The group agreed they should do this more often as a team exercise and to just get out a little more.
Marloes said;
“The day was a great success! Everyone who attended enjoyed themselves, the weather was gorgeous and the location was accessible enough to make it possible for all abilities to enjoy the walk, including my own 32-week pregnant waddle! In addition to the great physical exercise, we also raised £35 for Vetlife.
I will definitely endeavour to repeat the walk in this location, as well as organise more walks in different locations in my area, to allow more veterinary professionals the chance to exercise and enjoy each other’s company.”
