Welcome back to this month’s VN Futures DIWP campaign on flexible working.

Over the course of this month, we will be exploring the topic of flexible working; what it means to the employee, the employer, and the business.

In this second week of the campaign, we consider the implications of flexible working from an employer perspective, and the considerations which should be made by both the employee and employer when submitting or receiving a request for flexible working.

Belinda Andrews-Jones, Chair of RCVS VN Council, has provided us with an information pack of these considerations, which covers:

  • Statutory and non-statutory requests for flexible working
  • Managing conversations and negotiation
  • As an employee:
    1. Planning what changes to ask for
    2. How flexible working could affect your finances
  • As an employer:
    1. Practical and operational decisions when considering a flexible working request
