The British Veterinary Nursing Association promotes animal well-being and welfare at its forefront, and we encourage our members to do so too.

We consider the breeding of any animal with extreme conformation, features, or intentional hereditary defects to fall outside of the association’s values.

Animals who cannot perform normal behaviours for their species, or those who are suffering with chronic pain or health issues due to their conformation or features do not, in our opinion, experience a good quality of life and are subjected to unnecessary suffering .

We therefore do not condone or recommend the breeding of any animals with extreme confirmation, features, or intentional hereditary defects.
