We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Dr Jane Goodall DBE – ethologist, activist, and UN Messenger of Peace.

During 2020, we were fortunate enough to be joined by Dr Goodall for a keynote lecture during ‘BVNA This Is Us’ – the only BVNA Congress to have been held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Throughout her life, Dr Goodall tirelessly advocated for conservation of the natural world around us, along with the ethical treatment of animals. She inspired and educated young people and adults all over the world to recognise their own individual role in the relationship between humans, animals and nature; making an incredible impact across a wide range of environmental, humanitarian and conservation issues. Her legacy and impact on the planet will most definitely live on.

On the impact of veterinary nurses on animal health and welfare, Dr Goodall said, “Thank you for all you do, on behalf of the animals that you’ve helped, and the animals that you will help, to have a better life.”
