The British Veterinary Nursing Association (BVNA) Congress is an annual three-day event dedicated to the veterinary nursing profession, taking place this year between Friday 10th – Sunday 12th October 2025 at Telford International Centre. BVNA has now launched its full Congress CPD programme, containing twenty lecture streams, and many opportunities for hands-on, engaging and interactive learning.

This year’s event continues a theme of ‘Progression’ for a second year – reflecting the significant evolution of the veterinary nursing profession in the 60 years since BVNA was launched, and looking to an exciting future.

Register via the BVNA website before Thursday 31st July to access a special early bird ticket rate.

Progression

BVNA has shaped its programme through feedback from its members and delegates – curating streams and content to reflect veterinary nurses’ learning needs, along with their ever-evolving career pathways. The headline stream of ‘Progression’ takes place each morning – incorporating discussion on making the most of being an RVN, and empowering individuals to recognise areas of their professional practice where they can lead and feel a greater sense of ownership.

Each morning encompasses a different area of ‘Progression’:

  • Every veterinary nurse is a leader
  • Maximising RVN utilisation
  • Your career passport

Also speaking on the theme of Progression will be keynote speaker, Helen Ballantyne. Helen is a renowned dual-qualified medical and veterinary nurse, and advocate for One Health – including identifying opportunities for collaboration between human-centred and veterinary nursing.

Scientific programme dedicated to veterinary nurses

BVNA’s diverse programme highlights the significant impact veterinary nurses have on all areas of professional practice, providing powerful learning opportunities across a variety of topics including:

  • Emergency and critical care
  • Anaesthesia and analgesia
  • Dedicated referral and first opinion nursing streams
  • Nursing the senior patient
  • Nutrition
  • Student
  • One Health, One Welfare
  • Mental health and wellbeing
  • Species-specific behaviour considerations
  • Exotics, zoo and wildlife
  • Equine

Plus – take part in interactive, ‘In Conversation’ sessions on the key issues affecting the veterinary profession and animal welfare.
