The British Veterinary Nursing Association (BVNA) is delighted to announce its Advisory Board members due to commence their three-year term from October 2026, following approval at the most recent BVNA Council meeting on Saturday 11^th July.

The purpose of the BVNA Advisory Board is to provide support relating to governance and strategy to the BVNA Council and Staff team, also participating in the selection process for new Council members and Officers. Operating independently of BVNA Council, and composed of members from a variety of backgrounds within the veterinary nursing profession, the Advisory Board seeks to provide continuity; contributing insight into knowledge and experience of historic BVNA work to enable informed decision-making.

To be formally ratified during the Annual General Meeting at BVNA Congress 2026, incoming Advisory Board members commencing their three-year term will be as follows:

• Wendy Nevins RVN (Chair)
• Lyndsay Hughes RVN

In addition, extending her term will be:

• Samantha Morgan RVN

Completing her three-year term will be current Advisory Board Chair, Jo Oakden RVN.

BVNA President Sarah Holliday commented: “The experience of our Advisory Board is crucial to BVNA, with its members willingly volunteering to offer their insight and support for the benefit of the association, and ultimately, the veterinary nursing profession as a whole. Whilst the predominant role of the Board is to provide strategic support to BVNA Council, in recent years its members have contributed further – opting to participate in BVNA-led member working groups on reform of the Veterinary Surgeons Act and the Competition and Markets Authority investigation of the sector.

“I am delighted to welcome Wendy Nevins and Lyndsay Hughes onto the BVNA Advisory Board from October, and recognise Samantha Morgan’s dedication to BVNA through the extension of her term. The experience of this inspirational group of veterinary nurses will be pivotal as we continue to progress as an association, strengthening our voice on behalf of our members and the veterinary nursing profession.

“I would also like to provide my recognition and thanks to Jo Oakden for serving as Advisory Board Chair for the past three years, which follows on from a five-year term on BVNA Council. Her time, input and support throughout this period has not only positively impacted BVNA and our members, but also helped to ensure the association is fit for the future.”

Incoming Advisory Board Chair, Wendy Nevins, commented: “I am honoured to have been appointed Chair of the BVNA Advisory Board and grateful for the confidence placed in me by BVNA Council.
