The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) and British Veterinary Chronic Illness Support (BVCIS) are surveying veterinary surgeons, veterinary nurses, veterinary students, student veterinary nurses and those veterinary nurses undertaking a period of supervised practice to gain a better understanding of the experiences of those with a chronic illness or disability working in the veterinary sector or who are currently studying for veterinary qualifications.

You do not have to be disabled or chronically ill to complete the survey – we would like to hear from as many of you as possible to help us gain a greater understanding of differing perceptions of chronic illness and disability within the profession and the support that is currently available.

The Institute for Employment Studies (IES), an independent, not-for-profit research institute, is running the survey on behalf of the RCVS and BVCIS. All responses will be completely confidential and results will only be analysed and reported at a level that does not allow identification of individuals in any way. Your completed questionnaire will not be seen by anyone at the RCVS or BVCIS.

The information that you provide will help the RCVS and BVCIS to understand the views, experiences and challenges faced by those with a chronic illness or disability, and how the veterinary professions and educational institutions can be more inclusive.

We want to hear from as many vets, nurses and students as possible and would really value your participation in this survey. The survey is open from now until 12 midnight on Friday, 16 June 2023.
