BVRA, BVA and BVNA join forces to deliver webinar on positive practice team relationships
The British Veterinary Receptionist Association (BVRA) is collaborating with the British Veterinary Association (BVA) and the British Veterinary Nursing Association (BVNA) to deliver a webinar on how to foster improved communication amongst the entire veterinary team. The speakers will reflect on the results of BVRA’s annual survey for veterinary receptionists, the preliminary results of which suggesting that any feelings of confusion and frustration within the team are often caused by shortfalls in communication. The speakers will also answer questions put to them in advance by members of the veterinary professions.
“Synergistic practice relations: how can your team improve their internal communication?” is due to be recorded and released in Autumn 2023, and includes the following panel:
- BVRA President Jaime Kiem, Junior Vice President Kayleigh Walker and Council Member Danielle Bowers
- BVA President Malcolm Morley
- BVNA President Charlotte Pace
Questions can be submitted to the panel here until 5pm on Friday 8th September.
BVRA President Jaime Kiem said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to work alongside the BVA and BVNA in what is a first for the profession, a webinar where all three associations are coming together to discuss the importance of internal practice relationships and to explore ways in which to improve communication amongst the veterinary team. BVRA is often asked the question ‘how can we communicate better as a team?’ and we hope that this webinar will help to address the importance of communication as a team and how to achieve this.”
BVA President Malcolm Morley said: “Effective communication and strong internal relationships play a pivotal role in supporting a thriving team culture in veterinary practices. That in turn is vital for optimising patient safety, clinical outcomes and the overall wellbeing of the entire team. This new webinar is an exciting collaboration between BVA, BVRA and BVNA and I encourage vet teams to submit their questions to the panel via the survey link, so we can tailor the webinar to support you as much as possible.”
BVNA President Charlotte Pace comments: “At BVNA we are committed to supporting veterinary nurses to feel empowered to continuously foster positive team dynamics and communication within the veterinary workplace. Utilising veterinary nurses to the maximum of their abilities leads to improved job satisfaction and sense of value, all of which is underpinned by constructive working relationships amongst the entire veterinary team. Whilst interprofessionalism has historically often been more focused on the synergy between vets and veterinary nurses, we are delighted to be working with the BVRA to include veterinary receptionists within this work too.”
