Handy Tips - Legislative Reform Consultation
22 March 2021
Part 1 – Want to make a difference to the veterinary nursing profession? Handy tips on completing the Legislative Reform Consultation document
This webinar was held on Thursday the 18th of March 2021 at 19:30 for those in the veterinary nursing and wider profession, in regards to changes to be made to Schedule 3.
We are asking those in the veterinary nursing profession to think about and comment on the recommendations made by the RCVS Legislative Working Party to amend the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966. This is via a consultation document which we think is a bit daunting. So we invited a panel of veterinary professionals to discuss the proposed changes live at this webinar, so you can ask questions. This first webinar looks at the recommendations made that cover embracing the vet-lead team and enhancing the role of the Veterinary Nurse.
We were joined by 60 attendees and 40 or more viewers on Facebook for this extra-ordinary webinar, where Helen Ballantyne, Liz Mullineaux and Tom Reilly shared background information on the recommendations made by the LWP on the reform of the VSA 1966. Our President, Jo Oakden was an excellent host with a substantial amount of knowledge on the subject, as she was a member of the LWP and relevant committees. But don’t take our word for it. Watch it yourself here:
Jo Oakden chaired the webinar with guest panellists Liz Mullineaux, Tom Reilly and Helen Ballantyne.
Part 2 of this webinar series takes part on Tuesday the 23rd of March 2021 at 19:30, and Part 3 takes part on Thursday the 1st of April 2021 at 19:30. You can register here via our Events page. The second webinar looks at the recommendations made that cover assuring practice standards, introducing a modern ‘Fitness to Practise’ regime and modernising RCVS registration processes, while the third webinar looks at the recommendations made that cover additional LWP recommendations and interim proposals not requiring primary legislation.
