DIWP role model Victoria Bowes chats to Jill from VN Futures
Victoria has suffered acute and chronic health issues, and in the interview we talk about how she has worked through this and was supported by her employer to continue to progress in her career despite the challenges.
Victoria has been working in the animal care and veterinary nursing industry since 1997. She qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2003. She became the nurse training manager in her general veterinary practice and had the opportunity to support various students through their training. She also started working for Vetsnow as a senior emergency nurse. She has a specific interest in evolving the role of the veterinary nurse, weight management and emergency veterinary nursing. She has been working for WCG as a veterinary nursing course manager since 2007. With this role she hopes to impart her passion for veterinary nursing and the importance of supporting clients as you would want to be yourself. She works as the external examiner for Vetskill and Wrexham Glyndwr University. This alongside her role as an examiner for the RCVS allows her to examine and support the next generation of veterinary nurses. She has been a featured author for vet practice today and a focus article author for the VN Times. This gives her the opportunity to share her knowledge and hopefully encourage others to seek a healthy and happy work life balance.
